La Veuve transforms a discarded champagne bottle cap into an unexpectedly theatrical ring.

At its centre, a mysterious historical portrait gazes outward from beneath a domed protective surface, framed by the serrated edge of the original bottle cap. Removed from its ordinary context, the object becomes strangely aristocratic — somewhere between costume jewellery, relic, and absurd miniature portrait.

The work embraces humour and transformation through found materials. A disposable object associated with celebration and excess is elevated into something intimate and ornamental, while still retaining traces of its former life. The tension between refinement and kitsch is central to the piece’s charm.
