Willow, Weep for Me

Willow, Weep for Me features a fragment of willow pattern imagery hand painted onto reclaimed piano key ivory and sealed beneath a protective surface.

Set on a substantial sterling silver ring, the piece draws on the visual language of antique ceramics, souvenirs, and inherited domestic objects. The familiar blue-and-white imagery becomes miniature and intimate when worn on the body — somewhere between ornament, relic, and remembered fragment.

Made from reclaimed piano keys, the work also carries traces of another object history: music, touch, repetition, and time. The aged ivory surface lends warmth and subtle variation to the painted image, contrasting with the cool precision of the silver setting.
